The C1AP series provides field engineers an easy and safe access to any Gigabit Ethernet network for monitoring and testing purposes. It is designed for Fast and Gigabit Ethernet. The C1AP series offers the most complete and cost efficient connection for monitoring your network.

The C1AP series is a straight forward solution, which is equivalent to a 10/100/1G Aggregator TAP and a Network Interface Card (NIC) with 2 Gbps bandwidth. In-line it sees and monitors all 7 protocol layers.

Portable

The C1AP series is small and lightweight to carry and is extremely easy to setup. Unlike conventional ethernet taps, C1AP series doesn’t require any external power supply and draws power directly from a single USB 3.0 port.

Full Duplex Gigabit Line-rate Capture

The C1AP series aggregates full-duplex traffic into a single stream for gigabit line-rate capture and monitoring. Unlike monitoring approach via mirror or SPAN ports, C1AP series ensures line-rate performance and is invisible to the network and propagates all frames including error or corrupted frames.

8 Nanosecond* Hardware Timestamping

The C1AP-1G is suitable for network performance monitoring as it provides a high precision 8ns hardware timestamping on each frame and a maximum network latency of 370ns at Gigabit Ethernet speed.

Built-in Failure Safe Monitoring

The C1AP series has a built-in failover circuit that automatically switches to a bypass connection in events of power failure without introducing a point of failure in the network.

The Manager

An application designed specifically for the C1AP series. It provides a way for statistical analysis of a network, allowing for efficient excessive bandwidth usage detection, or any low layer errors using charts prior to a deeper investigation with an analyzer.

Software Supportability

C1AP series works with any third-party network analyser software such as Wireshark / Ethereal, Omnipeek (Wildpackets), Observer (Network Instruments) and more.

Standard PC or Laptop NIC is designed to communicate and drop invalid packages. The embedded or standard NIC’s can be setup for monitoring in promiscuous mode but they keep dropping errors and corrupted packages. Monitoring both TX and RX require two NICs or additional SPAN Port, Hub or Aggregator Tap. All these combinations have disadvantages, as they do not see errors or drop packages. Eliminating these issues make this TAP the right choice.

Monitoring Real Time Applications in Industrial Networks require careful usage of TAPs in general. Keeping an eye on Latency and Delays while inserting TAPs is essential, processing the monitored traffic at dedicated industrial Sniffer needs to pay attention to potential delays caused by eventual aggregation and routing in while serving the monitored data to the Analysis Equipment.

The prior usage of Hubs interere the sensitive Networks and SPAN Ports in general may cause different results in Analysis or even worse, will let important parts being not visible, do not see errors or drop packets. The below set of TAPs have been tested and certified to be most accurate and are trustfull used all over for analysing Automation Networks in Real Time.
